NO. 01 Biltmore Estate

The Biltmore Estate is a majestic mansion located in Asheville, North Carolina. It was built by George Vanderbilt, a member of the prominent Vanderbilt family, in the late 1800s. The estate is not only famous for its luxurious architecture and picturesque gardens, but also for its alleged hauntings.

The Biltmore Estate was completed in 1895 and was the largest private residence in the United States at the time. The estate was designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt, and it took six years to construct. The mansion features 250 rooms, including 35 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, and 65 fireplaces.

George Vanderbilt died in 1914, and his wife, Edith, continued to live at the estate until her death in 1958. Many people believe that the spirits of George and Edith Vanderbilt still linger at the Biltmore Estate, along with several other ghostly figures.  At night, some of the people working the grounds had heard sounds of laughter, glasses clinking, and party-like chatter.

One of the most well-known ghost stories associated with the Biltmore Estate involves a woman in a pink dress. Visitors to the mansion have reported seeing a woman in a pink dress walking through the halls or sitting in one of the many rooms. Some believe that this woman is the ghost of George Vanderbilt's mistress, who died in a nearby hospital in 1898.

Another famous ghost story involves a young boy who haunts the gardens of the estate. Visitors have reported seeing the ghost of a boy playing in the gardens, and some have even claimed to hear his laughter. It's believed that the boy may have been a victim of a tragic accident on the estate, although no one knows for sure.

In addition to these ghostly sightings, there have been several other unexplained occurrences at the Biltmore Estate. Most of the visitors have reported seeing spirits going up or down the stairs. Sounds of footsteps had also been heard on multiple occasions. There have been reports of strange smells, cold spots, and eerie feelings when visitors would go up or down the stairs.

Also on the property is the The old Forestry Compound that was once the Biltmore Forestry School and the site of a sex workers murder. The spirit of the woman, along with a few others who were executed by hanging inside the old building, is said to be haunting the halls of the old compound.

The Biltmore Estate is a stunning example of Gilded Age architecture and is steeped in history and legend. Its reputation as a haunted house only adds to its mystique and allure, drawing visitors from around the world to experience its grandeur and explore its many mysteries.
