NO. 100 Henderson Castle

Located in Kalamazoo, Michigan on top of a hill overlooking the city and across the street from the local cemetery. Built in 1895 by Frank Henderson who owned a business making uniform regalia for secret societies.

A foreboding castle situated on top of a hill, the Queen Anne style home is out of place in the midwestern town. Currently, the Castle is a bed and breakfast with the owner, guests, and staff reporting whispers, figures, and being touched by an unseen figure. Doors and cabinets open by themselves and strange markings appear along a crossbeam, reappearing even after many renovations to remove them.

Throughout the years, numerous reports of ghostly activity have been documented at the castle. Visitors and employees have reported seeing apparitions, hearing strange noises and footsteps, and feeling sudden drops in temperature. Some have even claimed to have had conversations with spirits. The spirits of Frank and Mary Henderson, the castle’s original owners and the most commonly reported figures seen.  

One of the most famous ghosts at Henderson Castle is that of a young girl named Elizabeth. It is said that she was the daughter of one of the castle's former owners and died tragically at a young age. Her spirit is said to haunt the castle's third floor, where guests have reported hearing her laughter and seeing her ghostly apparition.

Another prominent ghost at Henderson Castle is that of a former employee named Fanny. She is said to have died while working at the castle, and her spirit is known to play pranks on guests and employees. Some have reported hearing her laughter and footsteps in the kitchen, while others have claimed to have seen her ghostly figure in the hallways.

Other reported hauntings at Henderson Castle include a malevolent presence in the castle's basement, the ghost of a former caretaker, and the spirit of a woman who is said to have died in the castle's tower.

Despite the numerous reports of paranormal activity at Henderson Castle, the current owners embrace the haunted history of the property. They offer ghost tours and paranormal investigations for those who are interested in experiencing the supernatural activity for themselves.

Even with the number of sightings, owners and staff have all reported the ghosts as being warm and friendly.
